Eligibility Requirement for Boise Veterans
Lenders use the VA's online application to attempt to obtain the COE. In many cases, can be generated within seconds. If not, lenders should select a link to submit an electronic application. This method allows lenders to upload supporting documentation and submit an application electronically to the Eligibility Center. Veterans may also apply for a COE online at: www.ebenefits.va.gov

Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 9/16/1940 - 7/25/1947
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 90 total days
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Post-WWII
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 7/26/1947 - 6/26/1950
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 181 continuous days
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Korean War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 6/27/1950 - 1/31/1955
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 90 total days
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Post-Korean War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 2/1/1955 - 8/4/1964
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 181 continuous days
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Vietnam War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 8/5/1964 - 5/7/1975
Minimum Active-Duty Requirement: 90 total days
For Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam the beginning date is 2/28/1961
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Post-Vietnam War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 5/8/1975 - 9/7/1980
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 181 continuous days
The ending date for officers is 10/17/1981
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: 24-month rule
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 9/8/1980 - 8/1/1990
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 24 continuous months, OR the full period at least 181 days for which you were on call or ordered to active duty.

Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Gulf War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 8/2/1990 - Present
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 24 consecutive months, OR the full period at least 90 days for which you were on call or ordered to active duty.

Status National Guard & Reserve Member:
Qualifying Wartime and Peacetime Periods: Gulf War
Qualifying Active-Duty Dates: 8/2/1990 - Present
Minimum Active-Duty Service Requirement: 90 days of active service, OR
Six years of service in the Selected Reserve or National Guard, AND
Were discharged honorably, OR
Were placed on the retired list, OR
Were transferred to the Standby Reserve or an element of the Ready Reserve after service characterized as honorable, OR
Continue to be in the Selected Reserve.
